The Communication, Advertising, and Public Relations class at the University of North Dakota organized the Fire Safety Festival for the Grand Forks Fire Department during the spring semester of 2022, my senior year. Our team, Eternal Marketing, acted as the designated Advertising and Marketing agency for the department and event, dividing into specialized groups. With a strict budget in hand, we held numerous internal meetings to strategize and coordinate logistics, ensuring seamless execution.
Throughout the entire process, maintaining close communication within each department was essential to our success. My role, alongside two team members, primarily focused on graphic design and branded merchandise. We conceptualized and developed the department's new logo, researching color theory, and logo concepts, ending with two versions, a Kelly Green version for university relations, and a red and navy version, for the department. We designed and ordered print and digital event flyers and banners, and facilitated the procurement of all necessary marketing materials. We decided upon chip clips and pizza cutters, explaining to the department the reasoning over apparel, due to a majority of residential fires occurring in the kitchen, and our target audience is likely to actually utilize these items.
After weeks of working with the fire department and collaborating with the Eternal Marketing Team, we held the three-hour Fire Safety Festival filled with Deeks Pizza, Fire Department demonstrations, Free swag, and college students. After the success of the event, the team worked on final analytics from the semester and event and presented the findings to the Fire Department leads, community members, family, and friends.
The communication AD and PR class and UND put on Fire Safety Festival For the Grand Forks Fire Department. Collaborating with various departments, we served the Grand Forks Fire Department as our client for the semester, culminating in the in-person Fire Safety Festival in the Memorial Union.
